Google suffers Chinese “payback”

Google suffers further Chinese setback • The Register.

280 million registered users lost to Google as Sina portal (sort of like Yahoo) switches to its own search engine.

That’s like, more than all the internet users in the U.S. – and that’s ONE portal. This is serious folks. And Sina can now block search results easily at the behest of political actors, i.e. the Chinese Government and its propaganda masters.

Google has been in deep noodle after squabbling about internet freedom for some time.
